Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Geneva invites
applications for a position in syntax and its interfaces starting
August 1st 2025 (or to be negotiated). This position is a full-time
Assistant Professor position (tenure track) with a teaching load of
four hours per week (six hours after promotion to the rank of
Associate or Full Professor). Teaching will primarily focus on courses
in theoretical syntax at all levels, but could also include courses in
related fields such as language acquisition, fieldwork, morphology,
phonology or semantics, for example.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue research in the
field of theoretical syntax in interaction with related subfields, and
supervise PhD and MA candidates. They will also carry out standard
administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the Department
and the University.

Applicants must have a PhD in linguistics. They must have experience
in teaching, and they are expected to have a high-quality publication
record. Application materials can be in English. The successful
candidate is expected to have some basic knowledge of French and be
able to teach in French within two years after employment.

Salary ranges from CHF 130’720 to CHF 176’752 depending on experience.
