About the Role
The Department of Linguistics within the School of the Arts is looking
to appoint a Lecturer in Computational Linguistics (Teaching and
Research). This post is full-time and permanent, with an expected
start date of 01 September 2025.
Duties will include research, publication, convening and teaching
undergraduate and MSc modules, as appropriate, (co)-supervising PhD
students, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the
Department. The successful candidate will be able to develop new
modules, and adapt existing ones, in line with their specific research
strengths. You will be expected to teach on the following modules:
Foundations of Computational Linguistics; Language and Artificial
Intelligence; Programming for the Humanities, among others.
Evidence of high-quality research and publications in renowned
journals is also expected.
About You
You will hold a PhD in Computational Linguistics or a related subject
or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the
ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and
postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly
with colleagues, and good organisational and communicative skills are
also essential. You will be able to fit into the research culture of
the Linguistics department as well as connect with that of the wider
School and University.
