Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics; Phonology; Syntax

Meeting Description:

This one-day workshop aims to make theoretical advances in research on
the syntax-prosody interface, that is, the point of interaction
between sentence structure (syntax) and sound (phonology). We want to
give the floor to various (theoretical) approaches to the
syntax-prosody interface, in order to discuss different ways of
modeling the relationship, the matches and mismatches between
syntactic and prosodic (constituent) structure. This may include – but
is certainly not limited to – looking at the mechanics of ellipsis to
shed light on the nature and the workings of the interface. As such,
the goal of this workshop is to discuss and challenge deeply
entrenched ideas. The ultimate goal is to deepen our understanding of
the architecture of the grammar: how are individual modules of the
grammar organized internally, and how do they interact with each
other?

We are delighted that the following speakers have accepted our
invitation to present at the workshop:

Kriszta Szendrői (Universität Wien)
Lena Borise (CNRS/Université Paris Cité)
Edoardo Cavirani (KU Leuven)
Cédric Patin (Université de Lille)
Danfeng Wu (University of Oxford)
Claudia Crocco (Universiteit Gent)
