Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida
invites applications for a nine-month full-time tenure-track position
in Applied Linguistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin
August 7, 2025.

Duties:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
Mentor graduate students.
Conduct, present, and publish research and engage in other
professional activities.
Participate actively in Applied Linguistics B.A., M.A, and PhD program
management as well as
department, college, and university governance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Applied Linguistics,
Linguistics, or a closely related field (e.g., Second Language
Acquisition or Second Language Studies) by August 7, 2025.  Must meet
university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant
Professor.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Experience teaching applied linguistics/linguistics courses.
Research experience in quantitative methods, working with big data,
and/or corpus linguistics.
Publication record which indicates active research and scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications:
Research interests related to (generative) artificial intelligence or
cybersecurity.
Demonstrated success in teaching graduate and/or undergraduate applied
linguistics courses.
Experience teaching English and/or another language
Ability to seek external funding for research and/or program
development.
