Meeting Description:
The University of Edinburgh's Centre for Language Evolution and the
UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Natural Language Processing
warmly invite you to join us to hear from our exciting line-up of
speakers for this year’s iteration of The Edinburgh Lectures in
Language Evolution
(https://cle.ppls.ed.ac.uk/index.php/elle/elle-2024/).
Each year, ELLE showcases distinguished visiting and internal speakers
to deliver lectures summarising their own research and sharing their
thoughts on where the field is headed, and what exciting breakthroughs
are yet to come. This year we are pleased to welcome the following
speakers:
Shira Tal (University of Edinburgh) on Wednesday October 30th at
16:00-17:30 GMT
Cat Hobaiter (University of St Andrews) on Wednesday November 6th at
16:00-17:30 GMT
Richard Futrell (University of California, Irvine) on Wednesday
November 13th at 16:00-17:30 GMT
Martin Haspelmath (Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology)
on Wednesday November 20th at 16:00-17:30 GMT.
Each event will begin with a lecture given by one of our four
speakers, followed by a panel discussion featuring all speakers and
then audience Q&A. Visit the ELLE 2024 website for more information
about each talk and to register to receive talk announcements
(https://cle.ppls.ed.ac.uk/index.php/elle/elle-2024/).
You are welcome to join us in person in Edinburgh, or online as
attendees in the Zoom webinar. Talk announcements and webinar links
for all dates will be shared with all registered attendees in advance
of each event. The talks will also be live-streamed to YouTube for
public viewing and will be available to watch at a later date.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 2024 ELLE talks!
