THEME

This is the second conference that is organized under the auspices of
the journal Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching
(https://pressto.amu.edu.pl/index.php/ssllt), one of the leading
journals in the field of linguistics and education. The main aim of
the event is to showcase the latest theoretical proposals and
empirical findings related to second language learning and teaching in
a variety of educational contexts and at different educational levels,
with a particular emphasis on new challenges that researchers and
practitioners are currently confronted with. The conference will also
constitute an important opportunity to bridge the gap between theory,
research and everyday instructional practices.


PLENARY SPEAKERS

The following scholars have agreed to participate in the conference
and deliver plenary talks:

 •      Majid Elahi Shirvan (University of Bojnord, Iran)
 •      María del Pilar García Mayo (University of the Basque Country,
Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain)
 •      Peter MacIntyre (Cape Breton University, Sydney, Canada)
 •      Masatoshi Sato (Universidad Andrés Bello, Chile)
 •      Lawrence Zhang  (University of Auckland, New Zealand)

ORGANIZERS

The event will be organized by the Department of English Studies,
Faculty of Pedagogy and Fine Arts, Adam Mickiewicz University, Kalisz,
Poland. The chair of the Organizing Committee is Professor Mirosław
Pawlak, Editor in Chief of SSLLT (pawlakmi at amu.edu.pl).

VENUE

The venue for the event will be the building of the Faculty of
Pedagogy and Fine Arts, Adam Mickiewicz University, 62-800 Kalisz,
Poland, ul. Nowy Świat 28-30, where all the plenary and parallel
sessions will be held, and meals and refreshments will be served.

Abstract submission deadline: 15 February, 2025
Notifications of acceptance: 1 March 1st, 2025.
Deadline for payment of registration fee: 10 April, 2025

Call for Papers:

We welcome contributions in the form of papers (20 minutes + 10
minutes for discussion), symposia (60 minutes) and posters focusing
on, but not limited to, the following areas:
 •      theoretical foundations of research into L2 learning and
teaching;
 •      teaching target language skills and subsystems;
 •      individual differences in language learning and teaching;
 •      developing intercultural competence in the language classroom;
 •      learner autonomy and language learning strategies;
 •      content-based instruction (e.g., CLIL, EMI);
 •      classroom interaction and management;
 •      language teacher cognition and identity;
 •      language teacher education;
 •      coursebooks, materials, syllabuses;
 •      assessing second language knowledge;
 •      new technologies in L2 language learning and teaching
(including the role of AI);
 •      research syntheses and metanalyses
 •      methodology of research into L2 learning and teaching;
 •      disseminating the findings of research into L2 learning and
teaching.

Abstracts in the range of 250-300 words should be submitted online by
filling out the abstract submission/registration form.
