Meeting Description:

The International Association for Teaching Pragmatics (ITAP) is
pleased to announce the Fall Seminar 2024 will be organized this year
by the Università (online and face-to-face) on November 29.

The main theme of the seminar will be "Corpora, pragmatics and spoken
communication. Methodologies, challenges and future directions". The
seminar aims to be a forum for young researchers and established
scholars in second language learning and teaching working on
linguistic corpora, pragmatics and spoken communication. The seminar
is open to all theoretical approaches and welcomes contributions both
from the perspective of pragmatics and spoken corpora construction and
from the perspective of corpus driven teaching, assessment and
training.

The following scholars have accepted to be the keynote speakers:
Júlia Barón (Universitat de Barcelona
Marina Castagneto (Università del Molise)

Call for Papers:

The seminar is open to all theoretical approaches and welcomes
contributions both from the perspective of pragmatics and spoken
corpora construction and from the perspective of corpus driven
teaching, assessment and training.

Proposal submissions may include the following topics, but others
related to the workshop will be welcome:
- Pragmatics and spoken corpora, methodological issues (e.g. data
collection and corpus construction unit, corpora annotation).
- Pragmatics, spoken communication and corpus-based teaching and
assessment; classroom studies, teaching practices, implementation of
teaching resources.
- Pragmatics, spoken communication and corpus-based teacher training;
research studies and training practices.

Seminar Presentation Types:
The event is planned to consist of individual paper sessions and a
round table.
- Individual paper presentations will be 30 minutes long.
- The round table will be introduced by the organizers and coordinated
by the two invited speakers.

Instructions:
Each author can submit a maximum of one single-authored abstract and
another co-authored abstract.

Proposals shall not exceed 500 words (including references and
examples), and shall be anonymously submitted in English, Italian,
French or Spanish outlining the research focus, methodology, key
findings, and implications. Proposals shall be submitted in Times New
Roman font size 12, with 1.5 spacing and with 2.5-cm margin on all
sides.

Please name this file “Abstract_Surname” (format Word/pdf file) and
send it to corporapragmaticsworkshop at gmail.com.

The proposals for all presentations will be evaluated anonymously by
at least three members of the Scientific Committee. Evaluation
criteria include:
- Quality of the content
- Clarity of the abstract
- Contribution to the field

Important dates:
Abstract submission deadline: October 10th
Notification of acceptance: October 15th
Confirmation of participation: October 30th
Registration deadline: November 4th
