Description:

*Short-term scholarships in fall 2025 for (prospective) PhD students,
HU Berlin and ZAS*
Are you an MA graduate planning to do or already pursuing a PhD in
linguistics or a related field? Would you like to spend a few months
doing linguistic research with us in Berlin? Do you have an idea for a
small project, a short study or an interesting collaboration related
to the CRC? Apply for a short-term grant!
The CRC (Collaborative Research Center) 1412 “Register: Language
Users’ Knowledge of Situational-Functional Variation”, funded by DFG,
investigates aspects of register knowledge on the part of the language
users. The integrated Graduate Project of the CRC offers a number of
short-term fellowships of 3 or 4 months for the year 2025.

Please read the conditions and information about the scholarship
carefully before you apply.
*Requirements*
 - Enrollment in a PhD program or MA degree or equivalent (not yet a
doctorate)
 - The scholarship can start in September or October 2025 and must be
completed by the end of 2025.
 - Proposed projects should be carried out within one of the 18 CRC
sub-projects. The hosting PI of the selected sub-project must have
been contacted before submitting the application and must have
confirmed the association.
Please understand that applications that do not fulfill these
conditions cannot be considered.
*Application*
Your application should consist of:
 - A short project description of 2-3 pages including: title of the
project, CRC subproject and name of the PI(s) who have confirmed the
affiliation, timeline, requested start date (Sept/ Oct) and duration
of the fellowship (3 or 4 months).
 - a CV
 - the MA certificate or/and a letter of enrollment in a PhD program
Applications are reviewed by a committee of experts from the CRC.

*Important information about the scholarship*
 - The scholarship amounts to €1,468 per month.
 - During this time, the scholarship holders are members of the HU or
ZAS. The place of work is Berlin.
 - Health insurance is not covered by the scholarship.
 - Additional income / further scholarships must be declared. Any
income will be deducted from the scholarship.
The initial deadline for application is May 5th, 2025. Later
applications can also be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis
until funds are exhausted. Please contact us briefly to enquire
whether a late application is still possible.
We will consider applications submitted by the end of July 2025 at the
latest.
