Focus: The main focus of the Summer School is in applied knowledge
about experimental methodologies to study voice, speech, language and
behaviour, following a hands-on approach.

Description:

This is the ninth edition of STEM (Summer Training in Experimental
Methods), a week long training program in current methods in
experimental linguistics, phonetics and psycholinguistics, organized
by the Phonetics and Phonology Laboratory and Lisbon Baby Lab (Center
of Linguistics, University of Lisbon).
STEM IX is directed at undergraduate and graduate students, and
researchers interested in voice, speech, language and language related
areas (including language development and language impairments), as
well as professionals (educators, teachers, psychologists,
audiologists, speech therapists, among others).
STEM IX takes a hands-on training approach and covers the following
topics/methods:
Course I - Praat and acoustic analysis
Course II - Advanced Praat
Course III - ELAN
Course IV - Advanced ELAN
Course V - Ultrasound Tongue Imaging
Course VI - Eye-tracking
Course VII - Advanced eye-tracking
Course VIII - Tools for the study of perception
Course IX - Electroencephalography
