The 24th Meeting of the International Circle of Korean Linguistics
(ICKL 2026) will be held at the University of Sheffield in Sheffield,
United Kingdom from 1 to 3 July 2026. ICKL 2026 is being planned as a
fully in-person event.
We are happy to confirm the following invited speakers at ICKL 2026:
- Hae-Sung Jeon, University of Lancashire
- Yoonhee Kang, Seoul National University
- George Tsoulas, University of York
The conference theme is Variation and Diversity in Korean Linguistics.
Variation and diversity are at the heart of linguistics research. They
also describe the field of Korean linguistics which is expanding into
new empirical domains, new fields of interdisciplinary and
collaborative study, and greater global participation from diverse
researchers and scholars. The conference aims to bring a wide
diversity of language researchers together from around the world,
including established researchers and students in Master’s and PhD
programs conducting their own research.
ICKL 2026 welcomes abstracts for individual papers on any aspect of
Korean language and linguistics including, but not limited to (in
alphabetical order):
- Bilingualism & multilingualism
- Computational Linguistics
- Corpus Linguistics
- First/Second Language Acquisition
- Historical-Comparative Linguistics
- Language Learning and Teaching
- Linguistic Anthropology
- Morphology
- Natural Language Processing
- Phonetics
- Phonology
- Pragmatics & Discourse
- Psycholinguistics
- Semantics
- Sociolinguistics
- Syntax
Presenters will be encouraged to submit their work for consideration
to Korean Linguistics (https://benjamins.com/catalog/kl), the journal
of ICKL publishing high quality and state-of the-art research in
Korean linguistics.
