LabPhon 20 will be held in Montréal, Québec, Canada from June 26–28,
2026, with pre-conference workshops and a keynote lecture on June 25.
This 20th anniversary meeting will take place at Coeur des Sciences at
UQAM, located in downtown Montréal, and is being organized by a
multi-university team from McGill University, Carleton University, and
the University of Ottawa. As we mark the 20th LabPhon meeting, our
theme, Looking Back and Looking Forward, invites reflection on the
field’s foundational work while exploring the evolving questions and
methods shaping its future.
Thematic Sessions:

-Multilingualism
-Computational LabPhon

-Dr. Mark Amengual (University of California, Santa Cruz)
-Dr. Taehong Cho (Hanyang University)

First Call for Papers:
-Submission Deadline: December 1, 2025
-Abstract submissions will be accepted via EasyChair from November 1,
2025 to December 1, 2025.
-Detailed abstract guidelines and the submission link will be
available in October 2025.
-Each author may submit one abstract as first author and may be
co-author on multiple submissions.
Call for satellite workshop proposals:
-Workshop Date: June 25, 2026
-Proposal Deadline: November 1, 2025
-Notification of Workshop Acceptance: November 15, 2025
-Submission Email: labphon20 at gmail.com
We invite proposals for satellite workshops on any topic related to
laboratory phonology. Workshops may be scheduled for either a half day
or a full day. To propose a workshop, please submit a PDF (max. 2
pages) including:
-Workshop title
-Name(s) and affiliation(s) of organizer(s)
-Preferred duration (half day or full day)
-Description of the purpose, structure, and method of soliciting
contributions
-Expected number of presentations
-Estimated number of participants
-A 100-word abstract for publicity purposes
Please note: The LabPhon 20 organizing committee will provide space
and promote the event on the conference website. All other aspects
(planning, budgeting, catering, publicity, etc.) are the
responsibility of the workshop organizer(s).
