Subject: 7-Day International Workshop On Linguistic Anthropology (It’s All About How Language, Culture, And Society Engage)

Organised By:
Indian Anthropological Society, Kolkata
In Association with: School of Languages and Linguistics, Jadavpur
University
September 9 to September 15/09/2025 | Mode: Online | Timing: 6:00 PM –
8.00 PM IST
What's Linguistic Anthropology about?
Essentially, it examines the interplay between language and social
life. It explores how language shapes who we are, how we communicate,
who holds the upper hand, and our everyday lives. This field is
beneficial for understanding not only what we say, but also the
reasons behind it, and how that reveals something about our culture.
In a nutshell, we will envisage how language reflects upon various
aspects of the human experience—from the pronouns to the political
rhetoric we encounter.
Outcome of this workshop:
Grasping the link between language and culture
Seeing language as a way to spot who people are
Looking into language and who has control
Picking up skills in how to watch and study language in different
settings
Getting clued in on why languages die out and what can be done
