Call for Papers:
We are delighted to share with you the Third Circular for the 23rd
International Conference on English Historical Linguistics (ICEHL-23),
which will take place at the University of Milan from 15 to 18 June
2026.
We are now inviting proposals for:
- Individual papers and posters
Abstracts should not exceed 300 words (excluding references) and
should clearly outline the research question, methodology, and main
findings. Abstract proposals should be uploaded using the link
provided below. Please note that you will be asked to supply up to 5
keywords and to follow the Chicago Author-Date citation style if your
abstract includes references (details and examples are provided in the
form). The form will also ask whether you would like your abstract to
be considered for one of the proposed panels. Prospective contributors
to panels should therefore submit their abstracts individually through
the general submission system.

A Fourth Circular will follow as soon as possible in the new year with
information on travel, accommodation, social programme and other
activities.
Registration:
- Early-bird registration: €280
- Early-bird fee for PhD, Postdoc, and retired participants: €200
- Opens: 15 February 2026
- Closes: 31 March 2026
- Standard registration: €380
- Closes: 10 June 2026
The conference fee includes admission to all sessions, conference
materials, coffee breaks, and lunches. Details on optional events
(conference dinner, excursions) will be made available on the website.
Programme:
The academic programme will commence on the afternoon of 15 June and
will conclude at lunchtime on 18 June.

- Carol Percy (University of Toronto)
The conference will also feature a number of themed sessions and open
panels on all aspects of English historical linguistics.
