Minimum Education Level: Undergraduate or above
Special Qualifications: V-NYI #11 is open to students, artists,
scholars and all curious minds, from all backgrounds and countries,
interested in comparative and formal approaches to theoretical
linguistics as well as race and gender studies, de-colonial studies,
and workshop in the literary, video, and creative arts.

Focus: Primary focus is on Generative Grammar (Syntax, Semantics,
Computational Linguistics), with additional courses in Experimental
Linguistics. (NYI also has an extensive program in Critical Cultural
Studies)

Description:
The NYI Global Institute of Cultural, Cognitive and Linguistic Study
is an interdisciplinary institute focusing on theoretical linguistics,
cognitive science, and critical cultural studies. V-NYI is the
virtual, live, global version of NYI, now entering its 11th session
this January (January 8-16, 2026)
Participants create their own study program from seminars in the
following fields:
- Linguistics and Cognitive Science (Syntax, Semantics, Mathematical &
Computational Linguistics, Experimental Linguistics, Music & Language)
- Critical Cultural Studies (De-colonial Studies; Politics of
Knowledge; Disability Studies; Existential Philosophy)
- Interactive Workshops (Poetry, Translation, Memory and Futurities,
Performance for others, Music of the 1990s)
Tuition: $95 / $125
Tuition Explanation: $125 for new students
$95 for returning students.
- Includes $20 Participation Fee
- Mini grants available during application process
