The Brazilian Colloquium on Morphology (CBM - Colóquio Brasileiro de
Morfologia) is a scientific event that brings together research
developed in the field of Morphology. CBM welcomes contributions that
encompass a wide range of descriptive, theoretical, and methodological
perspectives and fosters debate on different areas of morphology and
its interfaces through non-concurrent sessions.
For its seventh edition (CBM7), the event returns to the Federal
University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the institution that hosted
the first edition of the Colloquium, in partnership with the Federal
University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA/Jaguarão) and the University of São
Paulo (USP). CBM7, coordinated by Prof. Luiz Carlos Schwindt (UFRGS)
and Prof. Camila Witt Ulrich (UNIPAMPA), will take place on April
14–17, 2026.
This year, the event’s theme is “Allomorphy,” with an emphasis on
studies addressing morphological phenomena related to this topic. CBM7
also welcomes submissions proposing morphological description and
analysis from a variety of approaches.
We are pleased to welcome the following keynote speakers:
Eulàlia Bonet (Autonomous University of Barcelona)
Andrew Nevins (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro)
Vitor Nóbrega (University of São Paulo)
Workshops:
- Phonological domains and the interaction between morphology and
phonology (Professor Eulàlia Bonet)
- Suppletive Roots across Minoritized Languages: Patterns and
Consequences (Professor Andrew Nevins)
- Compounds and generative grammar (Professor Vitor Nóbrega)
Abstract submission deadline: January 12
Workshop dates: April 14–15
Colloquium dates: April 16–17
