歡迎教研人員、研究生、本科生報告相關而尚未出版嘅研究，尤其係進行中嘅項目、初步研究、學期論文——總之係當中有啲諗法想大家畀意見同討論嘅都好歡迎。
【報告形式】可以用廣東話、普通話或者英文嚟pi6sen1。每場30分鐘，安排如下︰
- 粵語應用語言學主題︰報告時間20分鐘，之後有10分鐘問答。
- 粵語理論語言學主題︰頭5分鐘簡述要旨（類似「電梯簡報」）；後25分鐘加以闡釋，中途聽眾可以隨意發問，評論。
【論壇形式】論壇以混合形式（現場 + 網上）進行。

。摘要可以用粵語、英文或者規範中文書寫，計埋參考文獻同例子最多一版A4紙；字體大小12，邊界1吋。千祈唔好寫姓名、所屬院校。提交嗰時記得要揀翻「粵語應用語言學」或「粵語理論語言學」主題。
【報名費】
參加者（包括匯報者同聽眾）一律收取港幣200蚊，將可獲得香港語言學學會會籍一年！（特別為咗鼓勵研究生、本科生參加，所有學生一律免費）

The 1st Cantonese Applied Linguistics Conference × 9th Forum on
Cantonese Linguistics (CALA-1 × FoCaL-9) Joint Conference will be
co-hosted by the Cantonese Applied Linguistics Association (CALA) and
the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong (LSHK), and co-organized by the
Division of Languages and Communication, College of Professional and
Continuing Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (LC, CPCE,
PolyU). The conference will be held on 4 July 2026 (Saturday) at the
PolyU West Kowloon Campus. We look forward to bringing together
researchers to share their latest findings, exchange ideas, and foster
cross-institutional collaboration.
Invited Speakers (in alphabetical order by surname)
Dr. Esther LAM (University of Edinburgh)
Dr. Wan-yee Cindy LAU (College of Professional and Continuing
Education, PolyU)
Prof. Wai Mun LEUNG (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Two Major Themes:
- Cantonese Applied Linguistics (e.g., Language Acquisition, AI and
Language Technologies, Language Education [Teaching and Learning],
Intercultural Communication and Migration, Language in Pop Culture,
Medium of Instruction, Language Assessment, Digital humanities, etc.)
- Cantonese Theoretical Linguistics (e.g., Phonetics, Phonology,
Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Psycholinguistics, Neurolinguistics,
etc.)
We welcome submissions from scholars, researchers, postgraduate
students, and undergraduate students. Works that are unpublished –
especially works in progress, preliminary studies, term papers, or any
research ideas that would benefit from discussion and feedback – are
very welcome.
Presentation Formats:
Presentations may be delivered in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English.
Each session lasts 30 minutes, arranged as follows:
- Cantonese Applied Linguistics: 20 minutes for presentation + 10
minutes for Q&A.
- Cantonese Theoretical Linguistics: In the first five minutes we
encourage our presenters to deliver the main idea (like an elevator
pitch), followed by a 25-minute presentation with details and
explanation, interspersed with questions and comments from the
audience.
Forum Format: The forum will be conducted in a hybrid mode (on-site +
online).
Abstract Submission:
Please submit your abstract via
https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/80498/submitter. Abstracts may
be written in Cantonese, English, or Standard Chinese. Maximum one A4
page, including references and examples. Font size 12, 1-inch margins.
Do NOT include your name or institutional affiliation in the abstract.
When submitting, please select either the Cantonese Applied
Linguistics or Cantonese Theoretical Linguistics track.
Registration Fee
HKD 200 for all participants (including presenters and attendees),
which includes a one-year membership in the Linguistic Society of Hong
Kong (LSHK). To encourage participation from students, all
undergraduate and postgraduate students may register for free.
