Linguistic Field(s): Philosophy of Language; Semantics

There has recently been a growing interest in truthmaker semantics as
an alternative to the standard possible-worlds approach in
philosophical and formal semantics. Following a successful initial
meeting in 2023, the second Advances in Truthmaker Semantics
conference will take place in:
Munich, July 28–30, 2025, at Nymphenburg Castle
(www.schloss-nymphenburg.de).
The aim of the conference is to share recent advances in truthmaker
semantics and related approaches, as well as to strengthen the
intellectual ties within the community.
Confirmed speakers include Kit Fine, Hannes Leitgeb, Vita Saitta, Lisa
Vogt, Stephen Yablo, Dongwoo Kim, Ivano Ciardelli, Reinhard Muskens,
Mark Jago, and Lucas Champollion.
The conference is organized by Lucas Champollion, Erica Shumener,
Martin Abreu Zavaleta, Mark Jago, and Justin Bledin.
While there is no fee for participation, those not presenting will be
asked to pay for any conference dinners they wish to attend (estimated
35 Euro per day). You can register to attend here:
https://philevents.org/event/show/130806
We would also like to draw your attention to the upcoming workshop on
Truthmaker Semantics and Modal Logic taking place in Bochum, August
4-8, 2025, at the ESSLLI summer school. The submission deadline is Feb
28, 2025. For more details, visit https://2025.esslli.eu/ or contact
vita.saitta at gmail.com.
Call for Papers:
Several slots will be available for contributed papers. We invite
interested researchers to submit an anonymous abstract of max. 1000
words (excluding references) by 7 March 2025 to Mark Jago at:
mark.jago at nottingham.ac.uk
We particularly encourage submissions by early career researchers
(including PhD students and those who have recently received their
PhD). Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by late March 2025.
The organizers gratefully acknowledge funding and organizational
support by Kit Fine, Hannes Leitgeb, Ursula Danninger, the Siemens
Foundation, the Humboldt Foundation, LMU Munich, New York University,
Syracuse University, and Nottingham University.
