Description:
The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main is one of the
largest universities in Germany with around 44,000 students and with
about 5,700 employees. Founded in 1914 by Frankfurt citizens and since
2008 once again proud of its foundation status Goethe University
possesses a high degree of autonomy, modernity and professional
diversity. As a comprehensive university, the Goethe University offers
a total of 16 departments on five campuses and 154 degree programs
along with an outstanding research reputation. Furthermore, the Goethe
University is part of the Group of Rhine-Main-Universities (RMU).
The **Institute of Linguistics**, Department of Modern Philologies, at
Goethe University Frankfurt has a vacancy in the field of Linguistics
for a
**(Associated) Researcher (m/f/d) (E 13 TV-G-U, fulltime)**
to be filled initially for three years as an Associated Researcher
**starting 01.04.2025 or next possible date** with the option to be
unlimited as a Researcher. The position is assigned to the Advanced
Academic Track as part of the university's permanent position concept
Career Karrierewege at Goethe and is linked to a tenure track; after
three years, the position will be permanent if the evaluation is
positive. If an applicant already has all the necessary qualifications
and relevant professional experience, an immediate permanent
appointment as a researcher is possible in accordance with the
procedure laid down in the university's permanent position concept
Karrierewege at Goethe (see at point 2.5 at the following link
https://tinygu.de/P4eR7). The salary grade is based on the job
characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe
University (TV-G-U).
**Responsibilities:**
You will be responsible for the academic management of the Institute
of Linguistics. This includes, among other things, the coordination
and organization of the teaching programs based at the Institute. You
will have organizational responsibility for admission procedures,
reaccreditation, internships, examination matters, study marketing,
tutorial support, etc. The position also includes general management
tasks such as collaboration in personnel and financial planning,
public relations and committee support. In the first three years,
while having the position as an Associated Researcher, you will teach
4 LVS in all degree programs offered at the institute. Having the
position as a Researcher after successful evaluation you will teach 8
LVS in all degree programs offered at the institute. You will also be
responsible for advising students, if necessary in English. The
Institute strives for innovative, research-oriented and
student-centered teaching, if possible with corresponding teaching
projects. You will have the opportunity to conduct your own research.
Participation in the Institute's research initiatives is expected.
There is an obligation to undergo regular further training in higher
education didactics or to expand the teaching portfolio.
**Employment Requirements:**
The person filling this position has a relevant scientific university
degree and holds an above-average doctorate in the field of
linguistics. To be eligible as Associated Researcher (fixed-term
position with tenure track) the doctorate should not have been awarded
more than three years ago (see German Fixed-Term Contract Act). You
have the continuous desire to develop your academic record and your
individual research profile. As the position deals with the academic
management of the Institute of Linguistics, proven experience in the
coordination and administration of study programs and in academic
administration is an advantage. Teaching experience at all levels,
third-party funding expertise and international experience are also
desirable. In addition, a qualification in higher education didactics,
documented by a corresponding certificate, should be available. If the
certificate is not available, the development of a teaching portfolio
is required or the university didactics certificate must be obtained
within two years after employment. You have a very good command of
German (C2) and at least a good command of English (at least B2). The
holder of the position is obliged to pursue continuous further
qualification in the field of the permanent task and in university
didactics.
