The Department of Languages and Literature (School of Humanities and
Social Sciences) of the University of Nicosia is pleased to announce
the Advances in Second/Foreign Language Acquisition: Heritage Language
Acquisition and Learning international conference, the fourth edition
of the ASeFoLA series. ASeFoLA 2025 will take place online on 24 May
2025.
ASeFoLA aims to bring together researchers from around the world who
are working to better understand the second/foreign language
acquisition process. The special focus of this edition is on Heritage
Language Acquisition and Learning and the conference will accept
submissions on this topic.
We invite submissions that discuss topics relevant to heritage
language acquisition and learning including but not limited to:
-Acquisition/learning of phonetics/phonology, morphology, syntax,
semantics, and pragmatics of heritage languages
-L1 attrition among heritage language speakers
-Crosslinguistic influence in heritage language speakers
-Pedagogy and policies in heritage languages
Submission guidelines
Abstracts of up to 300 words (excluding references, tables, and
figures) must be written in English and be anonymous. Each author can
submit up to two abstracts (one individual and one joint) through
https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/77589/submitter
Presentation details
Presentations should last 20 minutes (15 minutes for the presentation
and 5 minutes for discussion). This is an online conference, and all
presentations will be delivered virtually. Please note that your
abstract may be accepted as a poster.
Fees
There are no fees for authors and attendees.

Notification of acceptance/rejection: 1 April 2025
