PRIN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: "Extended reality and
technology-enhanced language learning and communication"
We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Conference on
Extended Reality and Technology-Enhanced Language Learning and
communication to be held July 16-17, 2025 at the University of
Bergamo, Italy. The conference marks the end of the PRIN research
project “Enhancing ESP Competence in Educational and Professional
Contexts via Augmented Reality” (www.esp-xr.eu) and has been organized
in collaboration with CERLIS (Centro di Ricerca sui Linguaggi
Specialistici) and CLAVIER (Corpus and LAnguage Variation In English
Research).
Dates: July 16-17, 2025
Venue: University of Bergamo, Italy
(Piazza Rosate 2, Bergamo)
The organizing committee of the International Conference on Extended
Reality and Technology-Enhanced Language Learning invites scholars,
researchers, and practitioners to submit papers exploring Extended
Reality (XR) —including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR),
and Mixed Reality (MR)— and other technology-enhanced approaches and
their application to language learning and communication. This
conference aims to advance theoretical and applied research in XR and
technology-enhanced language learning by providing a platform for
discussions on innovations, pedagogical frameworks, and emerging
trends.
Conference Topics
We welcome submissions related but not limited to the following
topics:
• Extended Reality (XR) in Language Education
- Applications of VR, AR, and MR in language teaching and learning
- Immersive language learning environments
• Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL)
- AI-powered language learning tools
- Gamification and interactive language learning
- Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL)
- Digital storytelling
• Pedagogical Approaches and Methodologies
- Task-based and communicative language teaching using XR
- Assessment and evaluation in technology-based language learning
- Teacher training and professional development
• Ethical and Practical Considerations
- Accessibility and inclusivity in XR language learning
- Privacy and security concerns in immersive learning environments
- Future directions and challenges in XR and TELL
All papers will be allocated 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions.
The language of the conference is English.

Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers
relevant to the themes of the conference. Please follow the APA style
(7th ed.).
Abstracts (300-400 words including references) should be sent by 12
March 2025, to patrizia.anesa at unibg.it and to valeria.giofre at unibg.it
Abstracts should include research questions, a brief outline of
methodology and analytical methods, and any theoretical issues
addressed, as well as describing the data analysed.
