Description:
The Department of Linguistics in the Division of World Languages,
Literatures, and Cultures at The University of Iowa seeks a full-time
Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics for the 2025-2026 academic
year.
The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Linguistics
(lecture and discussion sections), Language and Formal Reasoning,
Structure of English, and Topics in Linguistics (in the area of their
research interest). The anticipated teaching load, subject to change,
is six lecture courses per year, along with discussion sections
associated with Intro to Linguistics.

Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Linguistics, in hand by the time of the appointment
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in general linguistics
- Record of excellence in teaching linguistics at the undergraduate
level
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching large format courses, including TA supervision
- Expertise in syntax, semantics, and/or TESL
