Tokyo)
Tenure-Track Probationary Period: 3 years (with tenure review taking
place approximately 2.5 years after commencing the position)
Mandatory Retirement Age: 65

Starting Date: April 1, 2026, or on or about December 1, 2025
(candidate's choice)
Qualifications:
 - Doctorate in hand (or proof of imminent completion)
 - Native or near-native speaker of English
 - Experience in teaching EFL; experience specifically in EFL for
computer science, engineering, or science students is not necessary
but will be viewed favorably
 - Primary consideration will be the selection of a candidate with
strength in English language teaching; knowledge/experience in the use
of AI tools for language teaching/learning will be viewed favorably
 - Scholarly publications and professional experience
 - International experience (preferable for candidate to have lived,
studied, or worked outside their native country; experience in Japan
will be viewed favorably)
Duties: Teach an average of 2 courses per quarter over 4 quarters (= 8
courses per year, usually 5 unique courses plus 3 repeated sections;
each course meets for 14 100-minute classes); courses include EFL
courses and a Thesis Writing course; serve on committees; conduct and
publish research; assist with entrance-exam related tasks
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications/experience by University of
Aizu regulations
Annual salary including bonuses (*1, *2):
Associate Professor(准教授): approx. 5,500,000 - 7,500,000 yen
(*1) Other allowances are paid in addition to the base salary
(*2) Social security premiums, taxes, etc. will be deducted from the
salary
Holidays: Weekends, national holidays, and year-end and New Year
holidays (Dec. 29-Jan. 3); 20 paid holidays per year

km from campus)

regulations)

The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. (JST), July 31, 2025. Review of
applications will begin on August 1, 2025 and continue until the
position is filled. Successful applicants based on a document review
will then be invited to an online interview via Zoom. Those applicants
passing the Zoom interview will then be invited to the campus for a
face-to-face presentation, model lesson, and interview.
