While communicating with our own research communities remains
essential, the ability to effectively engage across different
disciplinary fields and with the general public has become equally
important. Developing skills to communicate expertise, research and
practices to non-experts is crucial in today's interconnected world.
Join us for two days of strategies for improving the reach and range
of scientific communication!
The Digital language and communication training for EU scientists
(DILAN) project has, over the last two and a half years, been
developing resources, practices and courses for researchers who want
to use reach a variety of wider audiences. This DILAN symposium at
OsloMet (Oslo Metropolitan University) next semester draws on this
work. It is an opportunity for researchers in science communication to
present their work, and for those interested in research communication
to develop their expertise in workshops and a masterclass.
This two-day symposium seeks to bring together researchers interested
in enhancing their research communication skills, those conducting
research on communication practices, and teachers who specialize in
this field. The symposium aims to explore diverse strategies and
innovative approaches to make research accessible and engaging to
wider audiences.
Keynote Speakers:
- Carmen Perez-Llantada, University of Zaragoza, Spain
- Julio Gimenez, University of Westminster, London
- Raffaella Negretti and Baraa Khuder, Chalmers University of
Technology, Sweden
Dates: September 25th and September 26th, 2025
Venue: OsloMet, Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway
There will be two presentation formats: lightning talks and posters.
Some of the keynote speakers will also run workshops for participants
to develop their abilities to reach wider audiences.
PhD candidates who present a poster or a lightning talk may apply for
a limited number of €400 travel grants that may be used for the
reimbursement of travel expenses after the symposium.
