The Organizing Committee of the Bilingualism in the Hispanic and
Lusophone World Conference (BHL) is pleased to announce that the next
BHL Conference will be held between 12-14 January 2026 at the
University of Reading. We invite researchers, scholars, and industry
professionals to submit papers for presentation at this premier
academic event.
BHL is a biennial international conference (Leiden University, The
Netherlands, 2015, 2019; Florida State University, USA, 2017; Puebla,
Mexico, 2024) that brings together researchers working on different
aspects of bilingualism/multilingualism in the Hispanic and Lusophone
world to share new insights regarding methodology and extend and
strengthen the dialogue on furthering our understanding of
bilingualism/multilingualism.
BHL is dedicated to research in any area related to
bilingualism/multilingualism, including: bilingual/multilingual
acquisition, heritage languages, education, sociolinguistics, and
psycholinguistics.
Topics:
 1. Psycholinguistic aspects of multilingualism
 2. Second language and bilingual/multilingual acquisition, heritage
languages
 3.  Bilingualism/multilingualism in society and culture (e.g.,
language contact, language policies, identity, migration, etc)
 4. Bilingualism/multilingualism in education (e.g., language
acquisition in multilingual children, bilingual education models,
teaching strategies in multilingual classrooms, mother tongue in
education, etc) and in Technology (language learning apps, inclusion
in multilingual digital spaces, etc. )
 5. Theoretical linguistics
By bringing together researchers from different perspectives we hope
to be able to share new insights regarding methodology and get a
better understanding of bilingualism/multilingualism.
The invited speakers for the fifth international conference on
Bilingualism in the Hispanic and Lusophone world are:
