UiT is the northernmost university in the world, located in Arctic
Norway. It is ranked among the world's top 100 universities for
linguistics, according to the QS World University Rankings 2024: No.
67 globally and No. 1 for linguistics in Norway. UiT is renowned for
its large, active, and growing community of linguists. It serves as
the center for Cognitive Linguistics research in Norway, represented
by the CLEAR research group (Cognitive Linguistics: Empirical
Approaches to Russian and Other Languages) and the Tromsø
Constructicon Lab (ConLab), the primary hub for constructicography
research in Norway. Tromsø is regarded as the capital of the Arctic
and has been the starting point for North Pole expeditions. With a
population of about 79,000, Tromsø is known for its rich cultural
life, northern lights, and midnight sun. It is located at 69 degrees

international airport, Langnes, located just 3 km from downtown. The
airport has recently been expanded and offers many direct flights
connecting Tromsø to Berlin, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Vienna,
Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Gdańsk, and other cities. You can also travel
from major cities in Norway, such as Oslo and Bergen, or reach Tromsø
