Preserving the original idea, the fifth edition of CIFRE is also
organized by doctoral and postdoctoral students of the Department of
Romance Languages, Faculty of Arts, Palacký University Olomouc, Czech
Republic. Our objective is to provide a safe and inspiring space for
the students of Master’s and Doctor’s degree of Romance Philologies
where they can gain experience with presenting and defending their
research topics in an international environment. It is also an
opportunity to make contact with colleagues from other, not only
European universities with prospect of collaboration in future
projects. This being the case, CIFRE also aims to make use of the
interdisciplinary approaches provided by the participants as well as
by the invited keynote speakers (academics, writers, translators,
etc.). CIFRE connects the foundation stones of Philology, Linguistics
and Literature, creating a whole spectrum of approaches. And it is
preciously this not so strictly defined horizon that is the general
topic of CIFRE’s fifth edition: In Search of (Un)certainty and
Challenges.
Every field of study is nowadays challenged by the need for
innovations and interdisciplinarity, nonetheless, it is equally
important to keep in touch with the basis and traditions that after
all enabled the rise of innovative theories and even protests. By the
same token CIFRE invites speakers to work with these antipoles and the
spectre between them:
• In search of individual/collective identity
• In search of balance/transgression
• In search of roots and memory
- In search of culture transfer
• In search of the self/otherness
• In search of intimacy/exposure
• In search of tradition/innovation
- In search of the classics: Boccaccio and His Legacy in European
Literatures
• In search of the author/reader
• In search of the digital/human
• In search of indifference/initiative
The fifth edition of CIFRE, furthermore, hosts a specialized panel
titled “In search of the classics: Boccaccio and His Legacy in
European Literatures”. This section is organized under the patronage
of the Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio and The American Boccaccio
Association. We invite researchers and scholars dedicated to Boccaccio
and his works to take a look to the dedicated call for papers on the
CIFRE website and to register for this section:
