Subject: Martina Wiltschko to deliver the Randolph Quirk Workshop Series and Public Lecture 2025 at Queen Mary University of London


The Department of Linguistics at Queen Mary University of London is
delighted to announce that our Randolph Quirk Fellow for 2025 is
Professor Martina Wiltschko (ICREA/Universitat Pompeu Fabra). Prof.
Wiltschko will be visiting Queen Mary Linguistics from 19th-22nd May,
and will give a series of three workshops followed by a public
lecture, all in hybrid format.
Workshop series: What do humans know when they use language?
Workshop 1 (19th May, 2-4pm): How do children acquire knowledge of
language use?
Workshop 2 (20th May, 2-4pm): Does knowledge of language use affect
the way we talk to ourselves?
Workshop 3 (21st May, 2-4pm): Does knowledge of language use affect
the way we express emotions?
Public lecture: (22nd May, 2-3.30pm): Language makes us think AI knows
stuff
