Oriental Meetings in Sosnowiec (Sosnowieckie Spotkania
Orientalistyczne) is an interdisciplinary academic conference
promoting intercultural dialogue, addressed to young scholars,
including postgraduate and graduate students, whose research interests
focus on the languages, literatures and cultures of Oriental
countries, especially Arabic-speaking countries, Central Asian
countries, China, Japan and India organized by the Institute of
Linguistics of the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).
The conference will explore a wide spectrum of topics ranging from the
ancient civilizations to the present-day cultures and languages of
these regions in all their richness and diversity.
Venue: on-line on MS Teams and at the Institute of Linguistics, ul.
Grota Roweckiego 5, 41-205 Sosnowiec, Poland.
Conference languages: English / Polish.
Paper presentations: 20 minutes for the presentation plus 5 minutes
for the discussion.
Abstract submission: Abstracts (no longer than 200 words) should be
submitted using the Google Forms by 2 February 2026.
Paper acceptance notification: by 9 January 2026
