Call for Papers:
International Conference on the Evolution of Language (EVOLANG XVI)
will host a workshop on language iconicity A WINDOW INTO URSCHÖPFUNG:
PRIMARY ICONIC COINAGE IN SPOKEN LANGUAGES this year. We invite
scholars of ideophones and onomatopoeia, etymologists, lexicologists
and language typologists to share their expertise in primary iconic
coinage in spoken languages (comparative research on iconicity spoken
vs. signed languages is also very welcome).
Abstract Submission:
We encourage all linguists representing various theoretical models and
practical applications to present their research as (A) a 15-minute
talk followed by a 5-minute discussion or (B) a poster presentation.
Please, indicate the desired format in your letter. The research
presented at the workshop should be original and not previously
presented or published. The language of the conference is English.
The deadline for abstract submission is 30 November 2025 (23:59)
European time (CET).
Please, send an anonymous abstract of maximally 2 pages long to Maria
Flaksman (maria.flaksman at uni-bamberg.de), Alexandra Bagasheva
(abagasheva at gmail.com) and Maruszka Meinard
(maruszkameinard at hotmail.com). In the body of the email, please
include the following information: title of paper, name(s) of
author(s), scientific degree, academic affiliation, research area.
