Subject: Survey About Public Engagement

I’m writing to invite you to participate in a research survey I’m
conducting with Sharon Unsworth (Radboud). The survey is part of a
study on perceived challenges in public engagement. It’s not targeting
the usual stuff about barriers to public engagement like lack of time
or incentives, but about the actual content of our work that can make
it feel tough to connect with members of the public.
On average, this survey takes about 20 minutes to complete (but could
range between 10-30 minutes, depending on how thoroughly you respond).
The link to the survey is here:
https://umdsurvey.umd.edu/jfe/form/SV_b2CA9DHA45eWb7U
We are looking for respondents who:
Are active researchers (PhD students, post docs, faculty, etc.)
And, have done any kind of public engagement in the last 3 years
(defined broadly: giving public talks, writing popular books,
presenting demonstrations at festivals, doing interviews with news
media, teaching high school students, etc.)
We’d really appreciate your input.
Feel free to pass the survey along to others! We’re especially
interested in data from linguists, but we are also keen to hear from
scholars in any other disciplines, as well.
