Subject: Call for Book Chapters: Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition in the Digital Age
Introduction
The digital revolution is transforming language learning and teaching,
driven by rapid advancements in technology. As language educators and
researchers, we stand at the forefront of this transformation, tasked
with harnessing the potential of technology to enhance second language
acquisition. The intersection of technology and language learning has
the potential to either revolutionize or replicate existing
pedagogical practices, depending on how thoughtfully we design and
apply these tools. This book, Applied Linguistics and Second Language
Acquisition in the Digital Age, invites scholars, practitioners, and
researchers to explore how technology influences language learning,
pedagogy, and instructional design. It aims to spark dialogue around
innovative and effective design practices that leverage technology to
promote language learning outcomes, foster linguistic diversity, and
support inclusive education.
Objective
The objective of this volume is to advance a comprehensive
understanding of technology-mediated language learning in the digital
age. By bringing together cutting-edge research and expert
perspectives, this book seeks to: explore the challenges and
opportunities of assessing language learning in digital environments;
examine the role of emerging technologies in shaping language pedagogy
and instructional design; highlight frameworks, case studies, and
theoretical approaches that advocate for effective, culturally
responsive, and inclusive language learning practices; and provide
language educators, researchers, and policymakers with actionable
strategies for leveraging technology to enhance language learning
outcomes. Ultimately, this book aims to expand current knowledge by
bridging theory, research, and practice, offering both conceptual
depth and pragmatic guidance for transforming language teaching and
learning through technology.
