Description:
The French National Research Centre (CNRS) will soon be recruiting
researchers in linguistics. Recruitment is done by a national
competition, but applicants are asked to select one or more research
labs to which they would like to be assigned, and the lab's official
consent and support are crucial. SFL (Structures Formelles du Langage:
https://www.sfl.cnrs.fr/en) welcomes applications to join our lab.
CNRS research positions are full-time permanent positions intended for
candidates in their early to mid-career. Applicants must hold a PhD by
the application deadline. Knowledge of French is not required.
The present call pertains to the preliminary step of lab support by
SFL; the official CNRS application will be done at a later stage (the
deadline to submit applications is normally early January 2026). We
will accompany and advise candidates we support in their CNRS
application.
Located at the CNRS research building in Paris's 17th arrondissement
and at Université Paris 8, the SFL lab has historically been very
strong in theoretical linguistics (phonology, syntax, semantics),
language acquisition, psycholinguistics and sign language; in recent
years, it has extended its focus to include computational linguistics,
sociolinguistics as well as interactional and multimodal dynamics.
The SFL lab can only support a limited number of candidates with an
excellent research record and motivation to develop a project that
would fit the lab's areas of inquiry. Applicants seeking the lab's
support should send their CV and research project by December 15,
2025, to the following address: sfl.direction at cnrs.fr
Application Deadline: 15-Dec-2025
Email Address for Applications: sfl.direction at cnrs.fr
