The International Workshop on Empirical and Psycholinguistic Studies
on Balkan Languages aims to bring together researchers working on
psycholinguistic and other empirical, experimental, and data-driven
approaches to Balkan languages. The workshop will focus on research
addressing Balkan languages, their contact within the Balkan language
area or their contact with other languages, their acquisition and
processing. We particularly welcome submissions that involve empirical
data-driven research, which particularly involves experiments to
investigate psycho- or neurolinguistic aspects of Balkan languages,
corpus or historical investigations, and studies on multilingualism
and language contact, linguistic minorities in the Balkans, language
endangerment and revitalisation. Empirical studies on acquisition and
processing of Balkan languages spoken as heritage or minority
languages outside the Balkan area are also welcome.

Abstract Submission:
Abstracts are invited for 20-minute presentations, followed by a
10-minute discussion.
Abstracts should not exceed 500 words (including examples and figures,
excluding references). They should have 2.5 cm margins and be written
in a 12 pt font size.  The abstracts, including the author’s name,
affiliation and email address, should be sent as a .doc(x) file to
balkans-psy at univ-cotedazur.fr. Please mention BEPS-2026 in the subject
of your email. Abstracts will be anonymized by the organiser before
review.
In order to guarantee diversity, one person may be the first author of
only one submission. The language of submissions as well as presented
papers is English.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 15 December 2025.
Notification of acceptance will be given  by 6 January 2026.
The conference is planned as an in-person event only.

Registration Fee:
We aim to keep registration  as low as 50€ for organisation, coffee
breaks and lunch during the workshop. A limited number of waivers can
be considered for junior researchers and students. The authors are
responsible for their own accommodation and transport costs.
