The Linguistics Department at the University of Florida is hosting a
Virtual Open House for its MA and PhD graduate programs on Friday, 24
October between 10am and 5pm (Eastern).
UF’s Linguistics Department offers both MA and PhD graduate degrees as
well as a SLAT (Second Language Acquisition and Teaching) certificate
at the graduate level. We currently have about 30 faculty (including
affiliated faculty) and over 40 graduate students. Our faculty have
expertise in a wide range of linguistic subfields, allowing students
to experience the diversity of the field and to focus on what
interests them. UF linguists teach and do research in phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics,
sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, language documentation, corpus
linguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, computational
linguistics, second language acquisition, language pedagogy, TESL,
African linguistics, and historical linguistics, among others.
During the Virtual Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to:
 - meet with faculty from diverse research areas;
 - learn more about the curriculum, specializations, and teaching and
research opportunities;
 - gain insights into the application process;
 - learn about funding for tuition and research;
 - ask questions and hear directly from faculty and current graduate
students.
Our application deadline for Fall 2026 is 1 December 2025.
To register for the event and receive the zoom link, please email the
Graduate Coordinator Stefanie Wulff (swulff at ufl.edu). For more
