The 4th Workshop on Experimental and Empirical Methods in Linguistics
(EEL)
Host Institution: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Website: https://sites.google.com/view/eel26/
Dates: 01-Jul-2026 - 05-Jul-2026
Location: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Kanpur, Uttar
Pradesh, India
Minimum Education Level: All
Special Qualifications: Experimental track: There are no prerequisites
for the Experimental track. Anyone who is studying/working in
Linguistics, Cognitive Science or related fields can apply.
Modeling track: You should know R programming. For example, you should
be able to use loops, conditionals, functions, and dataframe
manipulation in R.
Focus:
- Statistical methods used in psycholinguistics,
- R programming for data analysis,
- Experiment design and paradigms,
- Bayesian modeling
Description:
The Experimental & Empirical Methods in Linguistics (EEL) workshop was
initiated in 2017 to introduce students and researchers to methods
used in experimental and computational psycholinguistics. The previous
editions were hosted by IIT Delhi (2017), IIT-BHU (2018), and IIT
Kanpur (2025). The salient features of the workshop are lab sessions
in experiment design, data analysis with R, Bayesian modeling, and
expository keynotes on current trends that showcase how experimental,
statistical, and computational methods are applied in language science
research.
The fourth edition of the workshop, EEL 2026, will be hosted by the
Department of Cognitive Science at the Indian Institute of Technology
Kanpur on July 01-05, 2026.
EEL 2026 will feature two parallel tracks: (i) Experimental track for
students who want to learn experiment design tools and statistical
data analysis using R, and (ii) Modeling track for students who want
to learn Bayesian data analysis and cognitive modeling. Visit EEL 2026
homepage for more information: https://sites.google.com/view/eel26/.
The interested candidate has to apply for only one of the above
tracks, depending on what they want to learn. The last date of
application is 15th May 2026. You can find the application link here:

Note: We are accepting a limited number of participants. Please submit
the application form on time. You will be notified when your
application gets accepted.
Registration fee: INR 2000
