Workshop at ÖLT 2026: Current Issues in Syntax, Semantics, and
Pragmatics
Date: 20-Nov-2026 - 21-Nov-2026
Location: Salzburg, Austria
Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics; Pragmatics; Semantics;
Syntax
Submission Deadline: 15-Sep-2026
We are pleased to announce the fourth edition of the 'Current Issues
in Syntax, Semantics, and Pragmatics' workshop. As in the previous
years, the workshop will be part of the ÖLT (50th Austrian Linguistics
Conference), which takes place November 20-21 in Salzburg, Austria.
The workshop aims to create opportunities for researchers to discuss
their original, unpublished work related to any of the fields
mentioned in its title as well as at the interfaces.
We invite submissions for oral presentations (20mins talk+10mins
discussion) of theoretical and/or empirical contributions
investigating the syntax, semantics, or pragmatics of linguistic
phenomena. In general, the workshop does not specify any restrictions
to a particular topic or researched language -- however, this year,
the workshop will host a special session on 'Redundancy and Deficiency
in Natural Language' centered around the question how grammatical
systems function and operate under conditions of under- or
overspecification; focusing on (but not limited to) phenomena
involving pronouns, binding, clitics, tense, aspect, phi-features, or
agreement.
Abstract Guidelines:
Abstracts must not exceed two A4 pages (with 1inch/2.54cm margins on
all sides, Times New Roman, font size no smaller than 12pt), with an
additional third page *exclusively* for references. Examples (with or
without glosses) should be interspersed in the text rather than
collected at the end. Submissions must be anonymous and must not
reveal the identities of the authors in any way. At most two
submissions per (co-)author are permitted, only one submission may be
single-authored. Please send your abstract(s) in PDF format to
synsemprag.workshop at gmail.com no later than September 15, 2026.
In your submission email, please indicate whether your abstract is
intended for the workshop's general or special session.
Important Dates:
Abstract submission deadline: 15 September 2026 (23:59 CEST)
Notification of decision: 22 September 2026
Conference: 20-21 November 2026
