The Lingua student group at the University of Texas at Arlington is
excited to announce that we are now accepting abstracts for the 31st
Annual University of Texas at Arlington Student Conference in
Linguistics and TESOL (UTASCiLT).
This annual conference provides a fantastic opportunity for students
to refine their presentation skills, showcase their research, and
engage with a wider academic audience. We strongly encourage all
students—undergraduate and graduate—to participate, especially those
working on projects related to linguistics or TESOL.
UTASCiLT is an excellent platform to share class projects, works in
progress, thesis or dissertation research, proposals, or qualifying
papers. Whether you are just beginning a project or nearing
completion, we would love to see your work. In addition, all
presenters will be considered for the Yumi Nakamura Memorial Prize in
Linguistics, an annual award that includes a cash prize.
Conference Details:
Date: Friday, April 3, 2026
Format: Day-long conference
We are currently accepting submissions for the following presentation
types:
 - Paper Presentations: 250–300-word abstract
 - Poster Presentations: 250–300-word abstract
 - Sandbox Lightning Presentations: Instead of an abstract, presenters
will respond to guided question prompts
The abstract submission form is available at: tinyurl.com/lingua26
Submission deadline: Friday, February 27, 2026
Presenters will be notified shortly after the submission deadline.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this announcement
with your classes or the classes you are TAing.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact:
Lingua President: Duaa Makhoul (dxm8364 at mavs.uta.edu)
Lingua Vice President: Dani Quaye (danielle.quaye at mavs.uta.edu)
