Focus: Participants will explore language evolution through a
combination of theoretical courses, computational workshops, and
master classes led by international experts. The summer school also
features a dedicated workshop and poster session on the latest

The 11th Naxos Summer School on Diachronic Linguistics, subtitled
Theoretical and Computational Approaches to Diachronic Linguistics,
will be held from 19–24 July 2026 on the island of Naxos, Greece,
bridging classic theoretical syntax with innovative computational
technology in a truly interdisciplinary framework. The summer school
is organized by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in
collaboration with Arizona State University, University of Osnabrück,
University of Cambridge, and the CIVIS Course “Diachronic Linguistics
in the 21st Century”.
This intensive program is designed for BA, MA, and PhD candidates
passionate about exploring the complexities of language change through
cutting-edge theoretical frameworks and computational tools. Whether
you are investigating historical syntax, modeling linguistic
evolution, or exploring digital corpora, this summer school offers a
rare opportunity to engage with leading scholars and expand your
research horizons in one of the most inspiring settings in the
Mediterranean.
Tuition: 175 euros
Tuition Explanation: Registration fees are 175 euros for early bird
applications submitted by 31 March 2026, and 225 euros for standard
registration until 10 June 2026. Three full scholarships, covering
registration fees, will be awarded to outstanding applicants. To apply
for a scholarship, candidates must submit a motivation letter and CV
to nlavidas at enl.uoa.gr by 10 June 2026.
