Organized by the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre of The
Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and sponsored by United
College, CUHK, the 15th International Workshop on Theoretical East
Asian Linguistics (TEAL-15) will take place at CUHK on June 5-6, 2026
as one of the commemorative activities for the 60th anniversary of the
Centre.
The Workshop will be held in an in-person mode. We are pleased to
invite submissions for a 20-minute talk (followed by 10 minutes of
discussion) or a poster, addressing theoretical issues relating to
languages spoken in the area of East Asia, such as Chinese, Japanese,
Korean, and/or other languages spoken in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
We particularly welcome comparative work in syntax, semantics, or
morphology, that contributes to the understanding of Universal
Grammar.
Submission of Abstracts:
(1) Please submit TWO versions of the abstract: one with your name and
affiliation (in both PDF and WORD formats) and one without (also in
both PDF and WORD formats).
(2) Abstracts must be written in English and should not exceed two
pages of letter-sized or A4 paper, including data and references.
(3) Abstracts should have 1″ margins on all sides and use font size 12
(Times New Roman) throughout.
(4) Abstracts and metadata should not identify the author(s).
(5) Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract
per author, or two joint abstracts per author.
(6) Abstracts should not present work that has already been published
or accepted for publication.
(7) Please name all files using your full name and the title of the
submitted abstracts (“last name first name_title”).
(8) Abstracts must be submitted to the Organizing Committee via the
online system
(https://cloud.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/webform/view.php?id=13724149).
(9) Important Dates:
Submission Deadline     March 30, 2026 (Monday)
Notice of Acceptance    April 20, 2026 (Monday)
The selected papers will be accepted for publication in a special
volume of Studies of Chinese Linguistics (ISSN 1017-1274) based on
their merit. Papers related to syntax, morphology, morphosyntax, and
the syntax-semantics interface across Chinese dialects or between
Chinese and other languages will receive priority consideration.
