Conference Description:
We are pleased to invite you to the 4th Annual ELIPro Conference,
hosted by SDU University and organized in partnership with the 12th
International Conference Building Cultural Bridges (ICBCB). The event
will be held in-person from 15-16 October with an online day on 9th
October. This joint event explores multilingual education, linguistic
diversity, identity formation, and cross-border educational policies.
We provide a vibrant platform for dialogue and international knowledge
exchange, welcoming researchers, managers, and practitioners to
contribute work engaging with education in its broadest sense—across
contemporary, historical, local, or global contexts. Submissions are
welcome across, but not limited to, the following six thematic tracks:
Track I: The History of the Kazakh Language within Multilingual
Education in Kazakhstan
Track II: Multilingual Identities, Perspectives, and Education
Track III: Education Policy Challenges: Multilingualism & Language
Hierarchies
Track IV: Pluricentric Language Teaching in a Globalized World
Track V: Online Environments for Language Education
Track VI: Digital Tools for Inclusive Education
Submission Guidelines:
Abstracts of 250–300 words must be submitted by 15 April 2026, 23:59
(KZK time) via the official submission portal

Submissions will be evaluated based on the following five criteria:
ELIPro and Conference Fit: Alignment with the ELIPro focus and overall
conference theme.
Background: The specific issue, problem, or phenomenon addressed.
Research/Conceptual Gap: The importance and innovation of the project
compared to existing work.
Approach: Methodology, theoretical framework, or analytical design
used for investigation.
Findings and Implications: Contribution to existing research,
practice, or policy.

Prof. Sender Dovchin (Curtin University): Senior Principal Research
Fellow and ARC Fellow specializing in the sociolinguistics of
linguistic racism and the experiences of culturally diverse youth.
Dr. Pramod K. Sah (The Open University): Honorary Associate at the
School of Languages and Applied Linguistics who specializes in
critical applied linguistics.
Prof. Juldyz Smagulova (KIMEP University): Dean of the College of
Human Sciences and Education and specialist in Central Asian
sociolinguistics and language policy.
Prof. Jim McKinley (University College London): Professor of Applied
Linguistics in higher education at UCL Institute of Education with
focus on the teaching-research nexus in higher education and TESOL.
Prof. Heath Rose (University of Oxford): Professor of Applied
Linguistics, with a specialization in language teaching research.
Online:
Dr. Gabriela Meier (University of Exeter): Associate Professor in
Language Education focusing on multilingualism, socialization, and
social cohesion.
Prof. Ute Smit (University of Vienna): Professor of English
Linguistics specializing in English in educational contexts and
teacher education.
Prof. Julia Hüttner (University of Vienna): Professor of English
Language Education focusing on EMI, CLIL, and neurodiversity in ELT.
