It is great pleasure to announce the celebration of the International
conference on minority languages and multilingualism in European
schools: practices, challenges, and future prospects that will take
place in Donostia/San Sebastian July 9th, 2026. You may find the full
CfP information here.
This conference aims to analyse and gain a deeper understanding of the
situation of minority languages in European schools. The conference
welcomes both theoretical and empirical academic contributions
addressing multilingual educational experiences in which minority
languages constitute a central focus of analysis. The conference will
feature keynote speakers Jasone Cenoz and Durk Gorter whose work has
significantly shaped contemporary research in this area.
The following day, July 10th, 2026, we are also organizing a Summer
School entitled Fostering Dialogue and Collaboration among Minority
Language Educators: Basque, Occitan and Irish within our Teacher
Academies, more information is coming soon.
