Submission Deadline: 10-Apr-2026

We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for XPRAG.it 2026, the
6th edition of the Experimental Pragmatics in Italy Conference, hosted
by the University of Genoa and the XPRAG.it network.
This year, XPRAG.it drops anchor at Genoa’s Old Port. The conference
will take place on its historic pier, an iconic venue where sea, city,
and history meet – long a site of exchange of goods, ideas, and
cultures, and reminiscent of the settings of many Plato’s dialogues.
We welcome submissions on any topic related to experimental
pragmatics, broadly construed. Areas of interest include theoretical
and formal models of pragmatic processing, neuropragmatics,
developmental and clinical pragmatics, multimodal communication,
computational approaches, and research on language at the
semantics–pragmatics interface.
Submission Types:
 - Oral presentation
 - Poster presentation
 - Pre-registration poster — ideal for presenting study plans and
receiving early feedback
Keynote Speakers:
Michael Franke (University of Tübingen)
Julia Uddén (Stockholm University)
Elsi Kaiser (University of Southern California)
Francesca Foppolo (Università di Milano-Bicocca)
Submission Guidelines:
The abstracts must not exceed 1000 words for the text, 10000
characters for references, and 2 figures. Abstracts should be
submitted in PDF format, with 2.54 cm margins on all sides and
12-point font size, single-spaced. Please indicate up to three
appropriate keywords for your abstract, which will be used for session
planning.
Abstracts must be written in English and should include a clear title
but no information revealing the author(s).
Abstracts for pre-registration posters must respect the same word
limits and should include the following sections:
- Introduction (background, reasons for carrying out the study,
hypotheses…);
- Methods (how the hypothesis will be tested);
- Approach for statistical analysis (what statistical tests will be
used).
Accepted pre-registration posters should include the sections above,
plus any data collected since submitting the abstract, and any initial
statistical analysis or conclusions.
Authorship Policy:
For accepted abstracts, please note that the first author will be
intended as the designated presenter of the talk/poster at the
Conference. To encourage variation among the presenters, each speaker
will be allowed to present only one talk during the Conference.
Important Dates:
Abstract submission deadline: April 10, 2026 — 23:59 CET (no
extension)
Notifications of acceptance: End of May 2026
Abstracts can be submitted via OpenReview starting from January 30,
2026.
We look forward to welcoming you in Genoa for two exciting days of
cutting-edge research, discussion, and networking!
