The MTA–ELTE NYTK Lendület “Momentum” Neurophonetics Research Group
and the ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics invite you to participate
in the Intraspeaker and interspeaker variability Workshop. The
workshop is organised within the frames of ISCA workshops.
The keynote speakers of the workshop are: Anne Hermes and Stefano
Coretta.
The aim of this workshop is to bring scholars together who study the
phonetic, phonological, or other linguistic aspects of spoken language
to better understand and undermine the variability of the various
phenomena between and within speakers. Our main interest relies on
neuroatypical, pathological phonetic variation, however, you are
encouraged to apply for the workshop with any research regarding
speaker variability in any aspects of speech. Therefore, the
applications for the workshop are expected, but not restricted, to the
following topics:
- intra- and interspeaker variability
- short term phonetic variability
- longitudinal speech changes
- phonetic variability: articulation, acoustics, speech perception
- linguistic variability
- social and/or spatial variability of speech/language
- neurophonetic/neurolinguistic/pathological variation
- forensic speaker identification
- earwitness identification
- linguistic evidence
- speaker specific features in speech
- pathological variation
- speech type related variation
- other related topics
- The workshop will take place in person at the ELTE Hungarian
Research Centre for Linguistics, 33 Benczúr Street, Budapest 1068,
Hungary.
The working language of the conference will be English for the first
two days, then Hungarian for the third (last) day.
To apply to the workshop, 1+1 page abstracts are required (submission
deadline is May 4th, 2026 (anywhere on Earth),
https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/SpeakVar2026/), while
after the workshop, you can submit a 4+1 pages article to be involved
in the proceedings. For details, visit speakvar.nytud.hu
