Final Call for Papers:
We are delighted to announce that the Gallo-Romance Advances in
Morphology & Syntax (GRAMS) workshop will be held in Trinity College
Dublin on 25-26 May 2026.
The submission deadline is extended to 19 January 2026.
GRAMS embraces the full diversity of the Gallo‑Romance continuum, such
as (standard) French and its regional varieties, the lesser-studied
Oïl dialects (e.g., Gallo, Picard, Franc-Comtois), and the Oc
varieties of southern France (e.g., Provençal, Auvergnat,
Languedocien). Other indigenous Gallo-Romance languages include
Gascon, Francoprovençal, and the Croissant dialects. Beyond France,
numerous Gallo-Romance varieties are spoken across Europe: in Belgium
(e.g., Walloon), Switzerland (e.g., Swiss French), Catalonia (e.g.,
Aranese), and Italy (e.g., Occitan varieties of the Valadas occitanas
and of Guardia Piemontese in Calabria, Francoprovençal in Valle
d’Aosta, and the Gallo-Italico varieties of Sicilia). The workshop
also welcomes contributions on non-European varieties, where variation
is rich, such as Acadian French, Québécois, Louisiana French, Guyanese
French, or Caribbean French, to mention but a few, and it especially
encourages work on the French spoken across Africa.
Our invited plenary speakers are Michelle Sheehan (Newcastle
University) and Sam Wolfe (University of Oxford).
We invite submissions for 20-minute presentations (followed by 10
minutes for discussion) on any aspect of the morphology and/or syntax
of Gallo-Romance — all varieties welcome (standard and
non-standard(ised)). Proposals may address synchronic and/or
diachronic issues, and we welcome formal analyses within any
theoretical framework as well as solid descriptive analyses that draw
from new empirical findings and/or innovative methodological tools.
Abstracts may also focus on interface phenomena, provided they shed
light on the functioning of morphology and/or syntax. The languages of
the conference are English, French, and Occitan.
Abstracts should be anonymous and must not exceed two pages, including
examples, references, and figures. They should be formatted in at
least 12-point font, with 2.5 cm margins (A4) or 1" margins (Letter).
Each author may submit a maximum of two abstracts, only one of which
may be single-authored.
Please submit your abstract through EasyAbs:
https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/GRAMS/
