University of Konstanz has been continuously funded by the German
Excellence Strategy since 2006.
The newly granted SFB 1760 investigates the role of silence and noise
in our capacity for perceiving, learning and producing linguistic
signals. The first phase will run from April 2026 to December 2029 and
encompasses a wide variety of theoretical, experimental, computational
and empirical research within linguistics, in collaboration with
projects from computer science, computational social science, media
studies and sociology. For more details see
https://www.ling.uni-konstanz.de/sfb1760/
This doctoral position will work within the SFB 1760 in project A03 on
Pronominal Realization in Indo-Aryan. We are looking for someone with
interest and expertise in Indo-Aryan languages, with Bangla, Nepali,
Punjabi, Sindhi, and Urud/Hindi being of particular interest for the
project. The project work will involve research on these languages
with respect to the various forms of pronominal realization (simple,
null, doubling, incorporation) and will involve looking at word order,
ellipsis and prosodic properties as well. The candidate should be
prepared to conduct primary fieldwork on the languages and engage in
morphosyntactic analysis. The theoretical framework assumed is LFG
(Lexical Functional Grammar).
Reference No.: 2026/015. The start date is 1st April 2026 or soon
thereafter. The position is available until the end of 2029.
