We are delighted to host the EuroSLA-sponsored workshop ‘Multimodal
processing in SLA: bridging input modes and research methods’, at KU
Leuven, on May 5 2026.
This one-day workshop will bring together researchers interested in
multimodal processing in SLA.The aim is to create a space where
researchers can exchange ideas, reflect critically on current research
practices, and explore new avenues for investigation. We seek to
inspire fresh perspectives, promote methodological advancements, and
lay the groundwork for future collaborations and research projects in
this field.
The workshop will consist of four plenary lectures and two one-hour
poster sessions. In the plenary sessions, speakers will discuss
methodological challenges and recent developments in research
examining L2 learning from multimodal input. The speakers will also
reflect on implications for L2 pedagogy and theory development.
We are pleased to announce the following plenary speakers:
- Prof. Ana Pellicer-Sánchez (University College London)
- Prof. Maribel Montero Perez (Ghent University)
- Prof. Raquel Serrano (University of Barcelona)
- Prof. Kathy Conklin (University of Nottingham)
For the poster sessions, we invite abstracts for presentations
showcasing unpublished work that is in development or recently
completed, and that investigates L2 learning from multimodal input.
Abstracts can be submitted from Friday 9 January until Friday 30
January.
Further information can be found on the event’s
