The 19th instance of "Methods in Dialectology and Language Diversity",
Methods XIX, is to be held at the University of British Columbia at
Vancouver, from 4-7 August 2026.
The local Organizing Committee is going to announce the results of
individual, stand-along abstract vetting for papers and poster in the
week of Jan 27th. We apologize for the slight delay due to a
greater-than-expected volume of submissions.
In the meantime, please take note of the six accepted
Workshops/Special Sessions: https://methodsxix.ubc.ca/program/
Originally a forum for the discussion of methodological issues in
dialect research, Methods conferences have progressively extended
their topical range and now include the whole spectrum of regional,
historical, and social language variation. The Methods series welcomes
contributions investigating any of the world’s languages.
In 2024, the Methods Steering Committee decided to expand the
conference series title to reflect the broader focus of the conference
that has developed gradually over the course of the conference's
53-year history. Staying true to its focus on methodological questions
and developments, language diversity is and has always been at the
core of Methods series.
Methods XIX will feature 165 papers and six workshops. Notification
are going to be sent out next week.
If you would like to join us as a guest, from 4-7 August 2026 and UBC,
Vancouver, Canada, we'd be happy to have you. Vancouver, Canada, waits
for you, strong and free. Everyone welcome, no strings attached.
