We are happy to announce the 2nd conference on language policy in a
German-speaking context. After the first conference in 2024, and the
successful launch of the German network on language policy
(https://www.sprachenpolitik.de) as well as the new journal
Sprachpolitik & Sprachenpolitik (the first issue will officially be
presented at the annual IDS conference in March 2026), the second
conference will take place on September 2-4, 2026. Venue is again the
Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim, Germany.
The main topic of this year's conference will be minority language
policy and planning in Germany and other countries with German as a
main language, as well as language policy and planning for German (and
related varieties) as a minority language anywhere in the world.
Abstracts for conference papers can be submitted until March 31, by
sending an e-mail to sprachenpolitik at ids-mannheim.de. The main
conference language will be German, but papers in other languages are
generally also welcome.
