Subject: Call for Publications - Lingua

2026 Call for publications in the UVigo series ‘Lingua’
1. Justification
The Lingua Research Institute (iLingua) opens the series ‘Lingua’ in
the Publications Service of the University of Vigo, with the aim of
creating an editorial space for the publication of monographs and
collective works on research in languages and linguistics.
Priority will be given to publication proposals that fall within
iLingua’s lines of research
(https://ilingua.uvigo.gal/investigacion/), although original
proposals resulting from research outside the Institute may also be
considered, provided that they are positively evaluated in terms of
quality, novelty and interest.
The originals submitted will be evaluated by the iLingua scientific
committee, which will pre-select those that will undergo a peer review
process. Taking into account the results of the evaluation process and
the available budget, the iLingua scientific committee and the
Publications Service of the Universidade de Vigo will determine the
number of volumes to be published in each call for papers.
2. Target persons
They will be eligible for publication in this series:
- iLingua members
- members of research groups collaborating with iLingua, from any
university or research center
- any researcher who presents a novel proposal of quality and
interest.
3. Type of works and publication conditions
Monographs resulting from linguistic research or collective volumes
composed of thematic contributions will be published. In the latter
case, there will be one or more persons responsible for the initial
selection and revision of the chapters, as well as for the thematic
coordination among them.
Originals will be accepted in any of the languages commonly used in
scientific research and dissemination. The same work may include
chapters or sections in different languages.
The works selected in this call will be published in physical format
(paper). The distribution and exchange of the books will be promoted
by the Publications Service. In order to increase the dissemination of
publications and the visibility of the Universidade de Vigo, and
following common practice in many university publishers, the works
published in this call will also be made available in free open
access, once the time stipulated in the publishing contract has
elapsed, through the website of the Publications Service of the
University of Vigo under the Creative Commons
Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivativeWorks 4.0 Spain license.
4. Application procedure and deadline
Applicants must submit either the electronic version of the complete
volume, or a proposal for publication that includes at least the final
version of half of the final volume (in this case, a commitment that
the complete book will be available within three months after the
selection of originals must also be attached).
The application shall be submitted through the online form available
at https://forms.gle/aLYa89uip3aGzxgJ6.
The deadline for submission is from the publication of this call until
June 30, 2026.
Once the applications have been received, the provisional resolution
of those admitted and excluded will be published on the iLingua
website for notification purposes. Any objections to this resolution
may be presented within a period of 10 working days, starting from the
day following its publication. The final decision will also be
published on the iLingua website, with the same notification effects.
5. Evaluation and selection
In view of the applications, iLingua will rely on the collaboration of
external experts for the evaluation phase. Each pre-selected proposal
will receive at least two evaluations. The peer review process will be
carried out with all the guarantees of confidentiality and absence of
conflict of interest.
Once the reports have been received, the iLingua scientific committee
will decide which proposal(s) will be published. Its decision may take
into account, in addition to the reports:
- preference for works that are aligned with iLingua’s lines of
research
- preference for works that incorporate the gender perspective in
research (in accordance with European and Spanish regulations).
The criteria used will be stated in the award report.
The proposal of resolution of the scientific committee will be
communicated to the applicant research personnel, who will have 10
working days from the day following the notification. Subsequently,
the definitive resolution of the concession will be communicated,
which will exhaust the administrative channels.
The maximum period for resolving and publishing the resolution of the
procedure will not exceed six months, counting from the end of the
period for submitting applications. Failure to resolve within this
period will entitle the interested parties to consider their
applications rejected by administrative silence.
Any questions regarding this call can be sent by e-mail to
ilingua at uvigo.gal.
