The University of Granada is pleased to announce the 1st International
Conference "Nabokov in Spain", which will take place on October 1st
and 2nd, 2026. The main objective of this scientific meeting is to
bring together researchers, academics, and specialists to analyze,
debate, and delve into the figure of Vladimir Nabokov. Special
emphasis will be placed on his reception, translation, influence, and
cultural ties within the Hispanic world, alongside other contemporary
lines of study regarding his work.
The Organizing Committee invites researchers, philologists,
translators, and creators to submit paper proposals (in-person or
virtual) addressing Nabokov’s work from a critical, translinguistic,
or comparative perspective, focusing on but not limited to the
following thematic lines::
- The Russian Period (V. Sirin): Aesthetics, poetics, and analysis of
novels and short stories written in the Russian language.
- The Challenges of Translation: Nabokov's work in Spanish and other
official languages of Spain.
- Nabokov in Hispanic Letters: History of his reception, publishing,
criticism, and influence on writers from Spain and Hispanic America.
Submission Guidelines & Presentation Format:
To participate in the conference, please fill out the Registration
form (https://cceslavas.ugr.es/en/form/-nabokov-en-espana-inscripcion)
by July 20, 2026, 23:59.
Languages: Spanish and English.
Presentation Duration: 20 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q&A /

Prof. Alexander Dolinin (University of Wisconsin-Madison).
Dr. Tatiana Ponomareva (Director of the Nabokov Foundation, St.
Petersburg; Coordinator of the Nabokov Readings): "The Nabokovs:
Chronicle of a Family Through the Unpublished Correspondence of Vera
Nabokov and Elena Sikorskaya".

Notification of acceptance: July 31, 2026
Registration fee payment deadline: September 15, 2026.
Publication of the final program: September 15, 2026.
